Day 1 – The Gateway to 1,000 Hills: Arrival & Kigali Immersion

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be met by your African Majestic Adventure driver-guide. Your first introduction to Rwanda is through its clean, hilly capital. In the afternoon, we explore the vibrant Nyamirambo neighborhood, arguably the most colorful part of the city. Today we enter the forest before dawn. Guided by park rangers, we track the habituated Chimpanzee communities. Watching these intelligent creatures swing through the canopy, hunt, or socialise is a fast-paced and exhilarating experience. Chimp tracking is often more physically active than gorilla trekking as the chimps move quickly.

Following a forest lunch, we head to the Uwinka Visitor Center for the Canopy Walkway. This suspension bridge offers a unique bird's-eye view of the ancient montane forest. You might spot rare birds like the Great Blue Turaco or additional primate species like the Black and White Colobus monkeys high in the trees.

Day 5 – The Ultimate Encounter: Gorilla Trekking & Return to Kigali

This is the moment your journey has been building toward. After a 7:00 AM briefing, you will be assigned to a gorilla family. Your tracker will use radio communication to find the group’s location from where they nested last night. The trek can take anywhere from 1 to 5 hours through bamboo and stinging nettles.

Once found, you have exactly one hour with the gorillas. The experience of sitting just meters away from a 200kg silverback is indescribable—an encounter that feels more like a reunion than a sighting. After the trek, we return to the lodge for lunch and then begin the 2.5-hour drive back to Kigali for your departure flight.
