Day-by-Day Itinerary

D1

Day 1: Momella Gate – Miriakamba Camp (approx. 2,500m)

Miriakamba Camp

In the morning you meet your guide at Momella Gate. After a short briefing the hike begins through dense rainforest, passing exotic plants with chances to spot monkeys, birds and other wildlife. After 3–4 hours you reach Miriakamba Camp, where you enjoy the evening overlooking the volcano over dinner in a relaxed atmosphere.

Day 2: Miriakamba Camp – Saddle Hut (approx. 3,570m)

Saddle Hut

Today you hike on to Saddle Hut, your base camp for summit day. The route passes through open plains and volcanic landscapes, offering impressive views of Kilimanjaro and Arusha National Park. Along the way there are plenty of breaks for photos and wildlife viewing. On arrival at Saddle Hut, enjoy a light dinner and prepare for the summit climb.

D3

Day 3: Saddle Hut – Summit (4,566m) – Descent to Saddle Hut

Saddle Hut

Early in the morning you begin the summit climb to the crater of Mt. Meru, taking about 4–5 hours. From the summit you enjoy breathtaking 360-degree views of Kilimanjaro, Arusha National Park and the surrounding landscape. After a short break, the descent back to Saddle Hut begins. In the afternoon you have time to rest and reflect on the hike.

D4

Day 4: Saddle Hut – Momella Gate – Return to Arusha/Moshi

Arusha/Moshi

After breakfast, descend through rainforest and open plains back to Momella Gate. Along the way you enjoy final views and wildlife sightings. The trek ends at the gate, and you are transferred back to your accommodation in Arusha or Moshi.
