Zanzibar

Zanzibar is an Indian Ocean archipelago off the coast of Tanzania, a short flight from Arusha, Kilimanjaro or Dar es Salaam. Most visitors stay on the main island, Unguja, and combine a few days on the beach with the island's history and culture.

Stone Town, the old quarter of Zanzibar City, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site of carved wooden doors, narrow lanes, bazaars and the Old Fort. Inland, spice farms show why these were once called the Spice Islands, and Jozani Forest protects the rare Zanzibar red colobus monkey. On the coast, Nungwi and Kendwa in the north have the best swimming at any tide, Paje and Jambiani in the south-east are known for kitesurfing, and Mnemba Atoll offers the island's best snorkelling and diving.

Zanzibar is warm all year. The driest and most popular months are June to October and December to February. It works beautifully as a few days of rest after a safari or a Kilimanjaro climb, and we arrange the flights, transfers, hotels and excursions as one trip.
