Day-by-Day Itinerary

D1

Day 1: Momella Gate – Miriakamba Camp (approx. 2,500m)

Miriakamba Camp

In the morning you meet your guide at Momella Gate, complete registration and begin the hike through dense rainforest. Along the way you have the chance to spot monkeys, birds and other wildlife. After about 3–4 hours you reach Miriakamba Camp, where you spend the night. Enjoy the view of the volcano and the surrounding landscape over dinner in a relaxed atmosphere.

Day 2: Miriakamba Camp – Saddle Hut (approx. 3,570m)

Saddle Hut

After breakfast, the climb to Saddle Hut begins, the main camp for summit day. You hike through open plains and volcanic landscapes, enjoying fantastic views of the Kilimanjaro region. Along the way there are plenty of opportunities for photo stops and wildlife viewing. On arrival at Saddle Hut, enjoy a light dinner and prepare for the summit climb.

Day 3: Saddle Hut – Summit (4,566m) – Descent to Momella Gate

Arusha

Early in the morning you begin the summit climb to the crater of Mt. Meru. The ascent takes about 4–5 hours, depending on fitness. From the summit you enjoy breathtaking 360-degree views of Kilimanjaro, Arusha National Park and the surrounding landscape. After plenty of photos and a break, the descent begins back to Saddle Hut and on to Momella Gate, where the tour ends and you transfer back to Arusha or Moshi.
