Mandara Hut (2.700 m)

The tour begins at Marangu Gate, where you receive your permits and are greeted by the porters and guides. The climb leads through dense rainforest, past moss-covered trees and small waterfalls. After about 4–5 hours you reach Mandara Hut, where you recover from the first day of hiking and enjoy nature.

Horombo Hut (3.720 m)

After breakfast you continue hiking through the alpine heath zone, past bizarre rock formations and open highlands. The hike takes 5–6 hours and ends at Horombo Hut, your camp for the next two nights. The surroundings are ideal for getting used to the altitude.

D3

Day 3: Acclimatization Day – Horombo Hut

Horombo Hut (3.720 m)

An important day for acclimatization. You hike to a nearby viewpoint or explore the lava trails around Horombo Hut. This moderate hike helps your body adjust to the increasing altitude and reduces the risk of altitude sickness. In the afternoon you return to the hut and enjoy the view of the surrounding mountains.

D4

Day 4: Horombo Hut – Kibo Hut (3,720m – 4,700m)

Kibo Hut (4.700 m)

The climb to Kibo Hut begins early in the morning. The hike takes about 5–6 hours through barren, rocky lava fields. On arrival at Kibo Hut, you rest and prepare for the night summit tour. The view of the surrounding glaciers and alpine highlands is impressive.

Day 5: Kibo Hut – Uhuru Peak – Horombo Hut (4,700m – 5,895m – 3,720m)

Horombo Hut (3.720 m)

The summit tour begins at midnight. Armed with headlamps, you climb through the cold, rocky slopes and reach Uhuru Peak after 6–8 hours. The sunrise over the African continent is unforgettable. After the summit you descend to Kibo Hut, eat a meal, and continue back to Horombo Hut for the night. This day combines physical challenge with breathtaking natural scenery.

D6

Day 6: Horombo Hut – Marangu Gate (3,720m – 1,860m)

Moshi / Arusha

On the last day you descend comfortably along the graded paths back to Marangu Gate. The hike takes about 3–4 hours. At the gate you receive your certificate for successfully climbing Kilimanjaro. Afterwards, transfer back to Arusha or your hotel, where your unforgettable 6-day Kilimanjaro tour ends.
