Day 1

Lake Manyara National Park Safari

Full Day Drive: ~1.5 hrs from Airport Accommodation: Lake Manyara Area Lodge Meals: Lunch, Dinner

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met by your driver-guide and transferred to Lake Manyara National Park. The scenic drive through the Great Rift Valley escarpment offers panoramic views. After check-in and lunch, set out on an afternoon game drive in Lake Manyara, famous for its tree-climbing lions, elephants, giraffes, and over 400 bird species including flamingos. Overnight at your lodge overlooking the lake.

Morning: Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). Your professional driver-guide will be waiting outside the arrivals hall holding a sign with your name. Depart for Lake Manyara National Park (approximately 1.5 hours drive). The scenic route takes you through the Great Rift Valley escarpment with panoramic views of the Rift Valley landscape. Your guide will provide an orientation about the parks and wildlife you are about to experience.
Afternoon: Check in at your lodge overlooking Lake Manyara. Enjoy a delicious lunch before setting out on your first game drive in Lake Manyara National Park (330 sq km). The park's diverse habitats include acacia woodlands, groundwater forests, and the alkaline soda lake. Wildlife highlights: elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, impalas, and the famous tree-climbing lions that lounge in the acacia trees. Birdlife: flamingos, pelicans, storks, African fish eagles, and over 400 bird species recorded.
Evening: Return to your accommodation for a relaxing evening. Enjoy sundowner drinks on the lodge terrace overlooking the lake as the sun sets over the Rift Valley escarpment. Dinner at the lodge. Recommended dish: grilled tilapia caught fresh from Lake Manyara, served with traditional Tanzanian accompaniments.

Day 2

Ngorongoro Crater Exploration & Departure to Arusha

Full Day Drive: ~1 hr to Crater Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

After an early breakfast, transfer to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend 600 metres into the crater floor. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a natural wildlife arena with the densest concentration of large mammals in Africa, including lions, elephants, buffalo, and the endangered black rhino. Enjoy a picnic lunch by the hippo pool. In the afternoon, ascend the crater and transfer to Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure.

Morning: Early breakfast at the lodge at 6:00 AM. Check out and transfer to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (approximately 1 hour drive). The ascent to the crater rim offers spectacular views of the Rift Valley landscape. Descend 600 metres down into the Ngorongoro Crater (260 sq km) - the world's largest inactive, intact, and unfilled volcanic caldera. The crater floor is a natural wildlife arena with an extraordinary concentration of animals including lions, elephants, buffalo, spotted hyenas, hippos, zebras, wildebeest, and the endangered black rhino.
Afternoon: Enjoy a picnic lunch at the designated hippo pool area on the crater floor - one of the most scenic lunch spots in Africa. Continue the game drive exploring different habitats within the crater: the Lerai Forest, the Gorigor Swamp, the Lake Makat soda lake, and the open grasslands. After an extensive game drive, begin the ascent out of the crater (approximately 30 minutes). Begin the journey back to Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport (approximately 3 hours drive). Depending on your flight schedule, you may have a brief stop in Arusha for last-minute souvenir shopping.
Evening: Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure flight. End of tour. We recommend booking flights departing after 7:00 PM to allow ample time for the drive from Ngorongoro. Your guide will ensure you arrive with sufficient time to check in for your flight.
