Day-by-Day Itinerary
Your trip, day by day
Day 1: Arusha – Lake Manyara National Park
After a hearty breakfast in Arusha you set off toward Lake Manyara National Park. The drive passes through small villages, coffee plantations and gentle hill country, before the sparkling Lake Manyara comes into view. The park is famous for its large elephant herds, the legendary tree-climbing lions, and countless flamingos that turn the lake into a band of pink. During the game drive through dense forest, open plains and swampy areas you'll also spot baboons, buffalo, giraffes and antelope. In the afternoon you leave the park and drive to your lodge on the edge of the Rift Valley, where you enjoy the sunset overlooking the vast plain.
Day 2: Lake Manyara – Serengeti National Park
After breakfast you continue to the world-famous Serengeti National Park. The route takes you through the breathtaking Ngorongoro Highlands before descending into the endless plains of the Serengeti. Your first safari begins already en route: giraffes and zebras cross your path, while herds of gazelle dart across the golden grass. In the afternoon you reach the central Serengeti and take your first extensive game drive. Here you can expect prides of lions, elephant herds, leopards on the kopjes, and — depending on the season — the impressive Great Migration. At sunset you reach your camp in the middle of the wilderness.
Day 3: Full Day Safari in the Serengeti
An unforgettable day in the Serengeti awaits you. Early in the morning, as golden light falls over the plains, you set off on an exciting game drive. This is the perfect time to watch predators hunting and take spectacular photos. After breakfast the safari continues, exploring river valleys, acacia groves and open savannah where zebra, wildebeest and buffalo move in huge herds. At midday you enjoy a picnic in the wilderness, before heading out again in the afternoon. You may spot a cheetah gracefully stalking through the tall grass, or a lioness with her cubs. In the evening you return to your camp, where the campfire and the distant roar of lions create a magical atmosphere.
Day 4: Serengeti – Ngorongoro Crater
After an early breakfast you bid farewell to the Serengeti and drive toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area with a final game drive. Along the way you stop at a viewpoint with a spectacular view over the vast plains, before reaching the crater rim. Here you get your first glimpse of one of the world's greatest natural wonders – the 600-meter-deep Ngorongoro Crater. After lunch you drive to your lodge on the crater rim and spend a relaxed afternoon with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater – Return to Arusha
On the last day of your safari the spectacular finale awaits: a descent into the crater floor. The Ngorongoro Crater is considered one of the best places in the world to see the Big Five – lions, elephants, buffalo, rhinos and leopards all live here in close quarters. The density of wildlife is incredible, and every moment offers new photo opportunities. You enjoy a picnic at the Hippo Pool, where hippos wallow leisurely in the water, before leaving the crater in the afternoon and driving back to Arusha. Here your unforgettable "Heart of the Wilderness" journey ends – with memories that will last a lifetime.
