D1

Day 1: Dar es Salaam – Mikumi National Park

Mikumi-Region (z. B. Mikumi Wildlife Camp oder Vuma Hills Lodge)

After arriving in Dar es Salaam you drive toward Mikumi National Park. The landscape changes from urban areas to wide savannah, and first encounters with zebras, giraffes and buffalo announce the wilderness. In the afternoon you take a first game drive through acacia woodland, open plains and river areas, before driving to your lodge or camp.

Day 2: Mikumi – Udzungwa Mountains National Park

Udzungwa Mountains (z. B. Udzungwa Forest Lodge)

After breakfast you drive to the Udzungwa Mountains, a hidden natural paradise. Here you experience dense rainforest, dramatic gorges and waterfalls. In the afternoon you take a hike through the park on well-maintained trails, discovering rare birds, monkey species and lush flora. This combination of mountain scenery and wildlife viewing is unique in Tanzania.

Day 3: Udzungwa – Ruaha National Park

After breakfast the drive to Ruaha National Park begins, Tanzania's largest national park. Along the way you enjoy impressive views over hills and savannah. In the afternoon you take your first game drive through Ruaha, known for large prides of lions, leopards, elephants and wild dog populations. Overnight: Ruaha National Park (e.g. Ruaha River Lodge or Mwagusi Safari Camp)

Day 4: Ruaha – Selous Game Reserve

Selous Game Reserve (z. B. Beho Beho Camp oder Selous Kinga Lodge)

In the morning you start with a game drive, before the safari continues to Selous Game Reserve, one of Africa's largest protected areas. After arrival you take a boat safari on the Rufiji River, where you can spot hippos, crocodiles and birds. In the afternoon you explore the park on a land game drive, guaranteeing impressive wildlife sightings.

Day 5: Selous – Saadani National Park

After breakfast you drive to Saadani National Park, where wilderness meets tropical coastline. In the afternoon you take a game drive through the park. Saadani offers the unique opportunity to see elephants, buffalo, zebras and antelope near the coast, while the sun sets over the Indian Ocean.

Day 6: Saadani – Beach & Return to Dar es Salaam

Dar es Salaam

On the last day you can enjoy a relaxed beach walk or a short game drive in Saadani National Park. Afterwards you begin the return journey to Dar es Salaam. Here your "From Mountains to Coasts" safari ends — full of unforgettable landscapes, wild animals and unique nature experiences.

Best Time to Travel

Wildlife viewing is good year-round. The dry season (June-October) concentrates animals around water sources for easier sightings, and the Great Migration's river crossings peak July-October. Calving season in the southern Serengeti runs December-March.
