Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve
After an early breakfast, depart Nairobi and drive south-west through the dramatic Great Rift Valley escarpment towards the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve. The journey takes approximately 5 hours including scenic stops at the spectacular Rift Valley viewpoints where you can photograph the vast landscapes stretching to the horizon. You will arrive at your Mara lodge in time for lunch. Morning: Early breakfast and check out. Depart Nairobi driving south-west through the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Masai Mara to Lake Nakuru National Park
Enjoy an early morning game drive in the Mara as the sun rises over the savannah. This is prime time for predator activity and the golden light creates spectacular photographic opportunities. Return to the lodge for a full breakfast, then depart north-east through the Rift Valley towards Lake Nakuru National Park, approximately 4 hours away. After breakfast, enjoy a final morning game drive in Lake Nakuru before departing south through the Rift Valley to Lake Naivasha, approximately 1.5 hours away. The descent through the Rift Valley offers spectacular views of volcanic cones, papyrus-fringed lakes, and vast open plains. You will arrive at your lakeside lodge by late morning. You will check in to your lodge and enjoy lunch before heading out for an afternoon game drive in what is widely considered the best park in Africa for elephant viewing.
