Morning: Pick-up from your hotel in Dar es Salaam at 7:00 AM. Depart for Mikumi National Park — one of Tanzania's most accessible and wildlife-rich parks, located approximately 5 hours west of Dar es Salaam. The drive takes you through the scenic Uluguru Mountains and traditional villages. Your guide will provide a comprehensive briefing about the days ahead and the unique ecosystems of the Southern Circuit. Afternoon: Arrive at your lodge in Mikumi and enjoy a freshly prepared lunch with panoramic views of the Mkata River floodplain. After settling in, embark on your introductory afternoon game drive. Explore the open savannah plains in search of lions, elephants, zebras, giraffes, impalas, and buffaloes. Mikumi is often called "Mini Serengeti" for its striking resemblance to the famous northern park. Evening: Return to your lodge as the sun sets over the bush. Full Day Mikumi Safari
Awakening to the crisp morning air and the resonating symphony of native birdlife, today is devoted strictly to extensive, magnificent exploration. Capitalizing on the cool early hours when animals are most active, you will delve deeply into the remotest sectors of the park. Whether you are navigating winding dirt tracks in a customized 4x4, silently observing massive herds of elephants, or intimately examining fresh animal tracks, today will unfold an unparalleled tapestry of biological diversity. Savoring a picturesque picnic lunch amidst the wild, the day effortlessly strings together unforgettable encounters with apex predators and enormous family groups of grazing herbivores. Morning: Early breakfast at 6:00 AM followed by a sunrise game drive — the best time to see predators on the move. Mikumi's open savannah plains offer excellent visibility for spotting lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, and giraffes. The Mkata River floodplain is particularly rich in wildlife. Your expert guide will track animals using intimate knowledge of the terrain. The morning light creates spectacular photography conditions. After 3-4 hours, return to the lodge for brunch. Afternoon: Continue your exploration with a deeper drive into the park's remote areas. Mikumi is home to over 400 bird species, making it a paradise for birdwatchers. Whether you are hiking through dense rainforest to the spectacular Sanje Falls, spotting rare primates like the Udzungwa Red Colobus and Sanje Crested Mangabey, or immersing yourself in the rich traditions of a Maasai village, today will unfold an unparalleled tapestry of biological and cultural diversity. Morning: Early breakfast at 6:00 AM followed by a scenic drive to Udzungwa Mountains National Park. Upon arrival, begin your guided hike through lush tropical rainforest to the spectacular Sanje Falls — a 170-meter waterfall that cascades through multiple tiers. The hike takes approximately 2-3 hours round trip through dense forest teeming with endemic bird species and rare primates including the Udzungwa Red Colobus monkey and the Sanje Crested Mangabey, found nowhere else on earth. Departure & Return to Dar es Salaam
As the first golden rays of the morning sun gently illuminate the majestic terrain one final time, you will embark on a concluding, reflective dawn safari. This fleeting opportunity often yields some of the most dramatic lighting for wildlife photography, capturing the lingering mist dissipating across the valleys. Following a hearty, restorative breakfast at your spectacular lodge, it will be time to bid a fond farewell to the untamed wilderness. Morning: Early morning game drive from 6:00-9:00 AM for one last opportunity to spot wildlife in the golden dawn light. The cool morning hours encourage predator activity and offer spectacular photographic conditions. Enjoy a full breakfast at the lodge with views over the wilderness. Afternoon: Check out and depart Mikumi for the drive back to Dar es Salaam (approximately 5 hours). Enjoy lunch en route at a scenic location. Arrive in Dar es Salaam in the mid-afternoon (approximately 3:00-4:00 PM). Your driver-guide will drop you at your hotel or the airport for your onward journey. End of tour.

Dry Season (Jun-Oct): Peak game viewing in Mikumi. Wildlife congregates around water sources. Dry trails in Udzungwa provide safer, more comfortable trekking to the waterfalls. Best months: July, August, September. Green Season (Nov-Mar): Emerald landscapes, exceptional birdwatching, and more private safari experience. Top months: January and February.
