After collecting your luggage, you will be transferred to your Nairobi hotel where you can freshen up and relax after your flight. Morning: Arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). Meet your professional driver-guide. Transfer to Nairobi hotel. Freshen up and relax after your flight. Afternoon: Leisure time at the hotel to recover from travel. Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve
After an early breakfast, depart Nairobi and drive south-west through the dramatic Great Rift Valley escarpment towards the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve. The journey takes approximately 5 hours including scenic stops at the spectacular Rift Valley viewpoints where you can photograph the vast landscapes stretching to the horizon. You will arrive at your Mara lodge in time for lunch. Morning: Early breakfast and check out. Depart Nairobi driving south-west through the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Evening: Game drive continues in golden hour light for optimal wildlife photography. Lions resting after stalking, leopards in riverine trees. Return to lodge for dinner. First night in the Masai Mara.
Masai Mara to Lake Nakuru National Park
Enjoy an early morning game drive in the Mara as the sun rises over the savannah. This is prime time for predator activity and the golden light creates spectacular photographic opportunities. Return to the lodge for a full breakfast, then depart north-east through the Rift Valley towards Lake Nakuru National Park, approximately 4 hours away. Morning: Early morning game drive in the Mara at sunrise — prime predator viewing time with spectacular golden light. Return to lodge for full breakfast. Depart north-east through the Rift Valley towards Lake Nakuru National Park. Afternoon: Arrive at Lake Nakuru National Park. Game drive along the lake shore, acacia forests, and euphorbia-clad cliffs. Spot flamingos, black and white rhinos, Rothschild giraffes, lions, waterbucks, and over 450 bird species. Evening: Guided rhino tracking experience at the sanctuary. Sunset at Baboon Cliff viewpoint overlooking the flamingo-covered lake in shades of pink and gold. Dinner and overnight at Lake Nakuru Lodge.
Lake Nakuru to Lake Naivasha
After breakfast, enjoy a final morning game drive in Lake Nakuru before departing south through the Rift Valley to Lake Naivasha, approximately 1.5 hours away. The descent through the Rift Valley offers spectacular views of volcanic cones, papyrus-fringed lakes, and vast open plains. You will arrive at your lakeside lodge by late morning. Morning: Final morning game drive in Lake Nakuru. Depart south through the Rift Valley to Lake Naivasha. Scenic descent with views of volcanic cones, papyrus-fringed lakes, and vast open plains. Afternoon: Arrive at Lake Naivasha. Boat cruise on the lake spotting pods of hippos, fish eagles diving for prey, and cormorants. Over 350 bird species including herons, storks, and kingfishers. Optional Crescent Island walking safari (at own cost). Evening: Sunset at the lake shore with hippos grunting and Rift Valley escarpment glowing in fading light. Dinner featuring fresh local ingredients including tilapia from the lake. Overnight at Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort.
Final Breakfast & Return to Nairobi
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the lodge overlooking Lake Naivasha, soaking in the serene atmosphere one last time. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time for a guided nature walk along the lake shore or final birdwatching session before departing. Morning: Leisurely breakfast at the lodge overlooking Lake Naivasha. Optional guided nature walk along the lake shore or final birdwatching session. Check out and depart. Afternoon: Scenic drive back to Nairobi through the Rift Valley (approx. 2 hours) with lunch stop en route. Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Guide assists with luggage and check-in. Best Time to Travel
Wildlife viewing is good year-round. The dry season (June-October) concentrates animals around water sources for easier sightings, and the Great Migration's river crossings peak July-October. Calving season in the southern Serengeti runs December-March.
