Day 1

Arusha to Serengeti — Fly or Drive into the Wild

Full Day Transfer: 1 hr flight / 5-7 hr drive Accommodation: Serengeti Tented Camp Meals: Lunch, Dinner

Your Serengeti adventure begins with a morning pickup from your Arusha hotel. You have two options: take a scenic 1-hour flight to one of the Serengeti airstrips, or enjoy a 5-7 hour drive through the stunning Rift Valley and Ngorongoro highlands. Upon arrival, your guide will lead an afternoon game drive en route to your camp, introducing you to the vast plains and their wildlife. Overnight at a Serengeti tented camp.

Morning: Pick up from your Arusha hotel at 7:00 AM. If flying, transfer to Arusha Airport for a 1-hour flight over the Rift Valley escarpment and the Ngorongoro highlands — the views from the air are spectacular. If driving, enjoy a scenic journey through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area with a stop at the crater rim viewpoint, then descend into the Serengeti ecosystem. The drive itself is a game drive with chances to see wildlife along the way.
Afternoon: Arrive at the Serengeti and begin your first afternoon game drive en route to your camp. The Serengeti ecosystem spans 30,000 sq km including the Masai Mara in Kenya. Your guide will navigate the vast plains in search of lions, cheetahs, elephants, and the first herds of the Great Migration. Photography tip: afternoon light between 3:00-5:00 PM offers warm golden tones ideal for wildlife photography.
Evening: Check into your tented camp or lodge. Enjoy a welcome drink and watch the sunset over the Serengeti plains. Dinner is served under the stars at your camp. Many camps offer night drives (optional extra) to spot nocturnal wildlife such as genets, civets, and the elusive leopard.

Day 2

Full Day Serengeti Game Drives

Full Day Game Drives: 6-8 hrs total Accommodation: Serengeti Tented Camp Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

This is your full day to explore the Serengeti in depth. Rise early for a sunrise game drive when predators are most active. Return to camp for a hearty breakfast, then head out again after a brief rest. Visit the Seronera Valley, famous for its high concentration of big cats, or follow the Migration herds depending on the season. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush. In the afternoon, continue exploring different regions of the park before heading back to camp. Overnight at your Serengeti camp.

Morning: Early wake-up call at 5:30 AM with tea and coffee. Depart at 6:00 AM for a sunrise game drive when predators are most active. Witness the Serengeti come alive as the sun rises over the plains, casting long golden shadows. Your guide will track lion prides, cheetahs on the hunt, and leopards resting in acacia trees. The Seronera Valley is particularly renowned for big cat sightings. Return to camp for a full breakfast around 9:30 AM.
Afternoon: Rest during the heat of the day at camp — enjoy the pool or a siesta. Lunch is served at 12:30 PM. At 3:00 PM, head out for another game drive. Depending on the season, your guide will take you to areas where the Great Migration herds are concentrated. July to September offers dramatic river crossings at the Mara and Grumeti Rivers, while January to March is calving season in the southern Serengeti. Enjoy a sundowner stop with breathtaking views over the plains.
Evening: Night game drive (available at extra cost) in the concession area surrounding your camp. Spot nocturnal wildlife such as leopards, hyenas, porcupines, springhares, and the distinctive African wildcat. Return to camp for a hot shower and dinner.
